

From the beginning our vision has been to produce honest wine in harmony with nature, reflecting fully the potential of the Vagon terroir.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe in the concept that wine is made in the vineyard which means we farm in an ecological manner.
This avoids the use of herbicides and pesticides and so requires all development and maintenance work to be done by hand, or where access is possible, by a small vineyard tractor.
It also means we look after the bees, birds and other creatures we find on the land, because they all add in some way to the continued existence of the vineyards and the wine produced from the grapes.
Sheep from the island regularly graze the grass in amongst the vines providing natural control of weeds, and the best, natural fertilzation, eliminating the need for synthetic fertilizers. The effect is that nutrients from weeds and grasses are recycled while simultaneously improving the microbiology of the vineyard soils.
